Considering how hard the past winter has been, and what a late spring we are having, I think it's amazing that my rhubarb is ready to start picking. It seems earlier this year, rather than later than usual.
I will be making a rhubarb crumble with this first batch, but I don't think you'll need either a recipe or a photo of that!
Hope you cover your crumble with thick custard Suelle!
ReplyDeleteCreme Fraiche, Lucie. Huaband won't eat custard!
ReplyDeleteOh goooorgeous. Perfect rhubarb - the stuff we get at the markets is often battered and bruised. After our last discussion, I asked Pete to get some rhubarb crowns at the nursery - not sure how they'll go, as it doesn't get too cold here in Sydney, but worth a try!
ReplyDeleteCelia - Rhubarb does better after a cold winter, but it should still produce something without that cold snap.
ReplyDeleteGosh, it does seem early. We've only just planted our rhubarb, so we'll just have to be patient and wait for next year.
ReplyDeleteI think Rhubarb is definately something worth waiting for! I just love the sweet and sourness of it.
ReplyDeleteLuckily one of my mums neighbours dumps bagfuls of it on her doorstep each year so crossed fingers I will get my supply soon!
